It's all about relationships and back to basics

Friday, October 11

The wind was howling this morning whenPhil and I left Genesee in the wee hours....only the elk were awake to see us off. A long but uneventful trip gave me time to review my volunteer team leader manual before arriving in West Virginia.  Artie was waiting for me in Charleston, it was great to see his smiling and welcoming face.  He wanted to know how I had made time to come again(priorities , I said ).

On the way to Beards Fork, we caught up on all the local news, and did the first big grocery shop.  Driving up the winding road to the Holler was so familiar, like returning. To camp.  The dorm is in surprisingly good shape this year, clean laundry and a very organized kitchen(the work of our team last summer has prevailed).  Of course, back to basics, and I had to move furniture and make beds.  Artie says he will wax the floors tomorrow.  It is very quiet here tonight , I am looking forward to the teams arrival tomorrow.  It has given me a few moments to reflect on being back, and starting off on another week of work and new relationships.

Hope the wind dies down at home, and that all is well

Tired team leader
